"I have been asked what I mean by 'word of honor.' I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls -walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground -there is a possibility that some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand by me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I'd die first." by Karl G Maescar

What this quote means is that you should never break a promise. If you make a promise and can't keep it, then don't make any at all. People won't trust you if you aren't a man of your word. So what this man is saying is that he can escape and break any promise but chooses not to. This is because he cares more about keeping a word and choosing the right then choosing the wrong. No matter what the circumstances you should always keep your promises. The picture below is someone not keeping a promise.
